WALL-E or Wanted?
I’m torn. I’m one of those peoples that can only see one film at a time…and I’m also one of those peoples who won’t waste $20 at the movies in one day. I like Pixar. I like Angelina. I’m hearing good things from both camps. At least The Dark Knight will stand alone at the box office when it comes out. Sweeeeeet.

Guess what I heard?
I’ve just learned that an Arrested Development movie could be out as early as next year! We all miss what was probably the smartest, funniest, most ridiculous show on TV. For some reason, it landed on FOX’s lap and they sure as hell didn’t know what to do with it. Watch the provided clip where David Cross, who played the very gay flamboyant Tobias on the show, explains exactly why they cancelled my favorite show.

Sydney Pollack, an Academy-Award-winning director (Out of Africa, Tootsie) and occasional actor, has died. He was 73. He died of cancer Monday afternoon at his home in Los Angeles, surrounded by family. He was diagnosed nine months ago. Pollack is survived by his wife, Claire; two daughters, Rebecca and Rachel; his brother Bernie; and six grandchildren.
UPDATE: Hollywood is full of liars.
IT’S CONFIRMED! Reports circulating around the press saying that Warner Bros. was lying about the $20 million that Speed Racer took in over the weekend were true! What else, Paramount was lying about IRON MAN’s premire earnings as well! It wasn’t the cool $100 million like they said. These Hollywood execs lie to feed their egos. Ha!

As was reported before…and as I mentioned last week, Speed Racer BOMBED at the box office! Warner Bros. is reporting that it made a very modest $20 million over the weekend compared to IRON MAN’s $50.5 million. Rumor has it though that Speed made less than that and Warner Bros. doesn’t want to give out the real numbers. If any of you had seen the previews (and apparently many of you did) then you would know why you needed to stay away from this film. Like Mr. Perez Hilton likes to say, it was one “hot mess.”
Smells like…
complete and utter shit. The new Speed Racer movie, which makes it debut in theaters tomorrow, is looking to be a BIG dissapointment. Written and directed by the Wachowski brothers, who were made famous by the Matrix trilogy, the film is being ripped a new one by film critics everywhere. Not having grown up with the Japanese animated series, I have no connection whatsoever, but those who remember the series may want to stay away. If you’ve seen thew previews, then you will have noticed how large of a departure this is for the Wachowskis, especially since this is their follow-up to V for Vendetta in 2006. Another weekend goes to IRON MAN…bleh. I can’t wait for The Dark Knight.

So IRON MAN did very well at the box office over the weekend. Not only did it premire at number one, but it raked in just over $100 million. The second-best box office opening ever. So who saw it? I know I didn’t.
